S.T.E.P.P.S began 30 years ago when somebody came up with the idea of putting on a cabaret show for one night only for the people in and around St Teresa's Parish. The show was called 'A Night at the Music Hall' and it was such a huge success it ran for 3 nights due to it's sell out performances.

After this we wrote and produced our own pantomime, Snow White and the Eleven Dwarves!

Angela Cox took over as Director and her sister, Ursula Massingham took up the role of Musical Director. Over the past 20 or more years, they continued to produce at least two shows a year, ably joined by Angela's husband, Michael Cox as Musical Co-director.

The productions have included such timeless classics as Oliver, Sound of Music, Calamity Jane, Wizard of Oz, Tom & Huck and many, many more. Over the years, people have come and gone from S.T.E.P.P.S. Many of the children who started out with us in the chorus, moved on to principal roles as they got older and some have even moved on to join professional theatre groups.

We have also changed the venue for our shows over the years which have included St Teresa's School Hall, Polam Hall School Theatre, Darlington Technical College Theatre and more recently Bondgate Methodist Hall Theatre.

We hope to continue our productions for many years to come as they are a great source of fun for cast and audience alike.
